God deserves our respect

Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty— the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come Revelation 4:8.”

Sometimes we get so familiar with God that we forget to show Him the respect He deserves. Especially in this day and age. Part of the reason the world is in the mess we are in is that rather than seeking God’s assistance people demand it. Instead of worshipping God and giving Him praise by going to church or studying His Word, too many people say they see God in nature or their work and forego spending real time with Him. Please don’t get me wrong, service and nature are great places to connect with God but unless we know His Word we do not get to know the real God. Instead, He becomes a God we have created in our own mind, and we limit God to the parameters that we have established for Him. Our God should not be restricted to only be part of certain parts of our lives. He should be invited to accompany us everywhere, sit at our tables, join our outings and be part of our families. When we allow the world to tell us our God is to be worshipped in private, left out of our schools and workplaces, then we limit God’s ability to work. Our God is not someone who we should only call on when we need a miracle or from Whom we want something. We should not refer to our God with disrespect, give Him funny titles or belittle His role in our lives.

My prayer tonight is that we realize when we as a community start giving God the respect He deserves, we will see how powerful and mighty He really is. When we take off the limitations we put on God, we will see more miracles and changes not only in our lives but in those whom we love. No matter how much a child loves their daddy, a good daddy still demands respect. Our loving Daddy demands the same from His beloved children. Did you notice the praise the creatures gave God was 24/7? If they praise God in Heaven, we most certainly need to worship Him on earth. Tonight spend some time examining your relationship with God. Are you respectful and loving of and to Him? When we as Christians give God the respect He deserves, then others will surely follow suit. We cannot expect others to treat our God with kindness and welcome Him into their lives if we do not do this first.
